My Christmas Eve 2015 Outfit Plus Giveaway

Christmas Eve 2015 outfit main

So the countdown is officially on. Fifteen days and counting until Christmas. This year I have so much going on around me that I have had to adjust my Holiday timelines. I usually wait until the last minute to pick up a little something to wear for my Christmas Eve dinner but this year I really won’t have the time thanks to some last minute (and much appreciated!) work opportunities.

I had a very specific idea for my Christmas Eve 2015 outfit. I usually go with my fave LBD but this year I wanted to switch it up some. One of my favorite fashion trends for Fall/Winter/Holiday is plaid. I’m mad about plaid this year! I’ve never owned a plaid skirt and I was really attracted to the longer midi length skater skirts that can be worn rather high (to hide my tummy!). I actually found one online that I loved.

Now I was on the hunt for the perfect top to go with it. I knew it had to be rather fitted because the skirt is rather flowy. I found a really cute fitted mock turtleneck in black that helps to slim down my arms and makes the girls look rather perky.

Since I am opting to wear the skirt higher on my torso I don’t have to worry about wearing Spanx (Yes!) and since I am hosting Christmas Eve dinner I don’t need to worry about adding a clutch or coat to my look. I’m going to finish my outfit with my trusty all black riding boots and black knee socks that will peak out from the tops of my boots.

Are you looking to score the season’s hottest trends at great prices? Look no further than Mavy Savvy! What’s Mavy Savvy you say? Mavy Savvy is a fashion boutique founded in 2013 with a physical boutique in Miami, Fl and an online boutique. Mavy Savvy focuses on current trends inspiring women with their unique styles.

Fall is in full swing and can be hard season to dress for with radical temperature changes sometimes on the daily. That’s right ladies, hang up the yoga pants, sweats and leave the house in style. Lets transition from Summer to Fall with some great pieces from Mavy Savvy’s current collection that embody cool, casual style.

ebblog mavy savvy crop outfit

The crop top has had a fashion renaissance lately and just because the weather is cool it doesn’t mean we have to ditch some of our warm weather faves. Pairing a crop top with high waisted pants and a chunky sweater is a great way to transition your favorite crop top. Toss in seasonal accessories and a cool pair of boots and you have an edgy, hip outfit for those of us who like to take a fashion risk.

mavy savvy fall 2014 leggings

I think it’s safe to assume that most of us ladies love our leggings. I know I do BUT leggings can be comfy and stylish, especially when they give the illusion of being pants and not leggings. Leggings with zippers, pockets, studs, different textures and finishes can be a great way to punch up your fashion sense and maintain comfort. Adding a loose flowy top, a great cardigan and a scarf really brings together a great layered outfit perfect for the fall.

mavy savvy brocade jeans fall 2014

My second favorite wardrobe favorite/staple are skinny jeans. Skinny jeans are a versatile, year round piece that pairs well with both sandals and boots. Punching up your denim looks is as easy as adding denim with texture, finishes and patterns. The star of this outfit are the beyond cute brocade skinnies which will look great with some brown booties or lace up short boots. I also like to pair a neutral top and accessories with a pop of color around the neck with either a scarf or a statement necklace. In tho scase I used this adorable scarf that has the neutral great and a pop of bright, vibrant green. Don’t be afraid of adding brights to your fall/winter outfits. It’s a great to perk up an outfit and get you out of weather related “Bllahs”.

Looking stylish and put together doesn’t have to be a chore, a time sink or cost a ton of money. You can get great, versatile pieces for less at Mavy Savvy that will transition well between all seasons.

Popsugar June 2014 Must Haves Box

POPSUGAR provided me with a complimentary POPSUGAR Must Have box. The opinions I have shared about the box are my own and POPSUGAR did not tell me what to say or how to say it.

ebblog surprise box popsugar must haves june 2014

If you’re not familiar with Popsugar’s Monthly Must Haves Box, it is a box loaded with full sized and premium products. Now you’re not only going to get beauty items but lifestyle, food and home items. It’s really a well rounded box with a great selection of items from a variety of different types of products. It retails for $39.95 a month but the contents of the box are often double to triple the value.

I was SO beyond excited when I was notified I’d be receiving the Popsugar Must Haves Box for June 2014. I’m leaving for a two week trip to Mexico in a month. We are planning on going to our town and also spending a few days in Puerto Vallarta. I am beyond excited. When I found out that the theme behind the Popsugar June 2014 Must Haves Box is Summer.  I was eagerly anticipating some great items to take with me on vacation. And this box did NOT disappoint!

ebblog pmhb june 2014

Emily Griffin’s The One & Only – $28 – This is coming with me on the plane, along with several months worth of Allure and Instyle. I cannot wait to get into this book. It’s been years since I read an entire novel.

ebblog pmhb june 2014

One Potato Two Potato Hawaiian BBQ Flavored Kettle Chips – $2 – These are gone BTW. I thought they were so beyond yummy. These were not your typical bbq chips. They were a little on the spicy side. I loved them!

More than just a towel!

Turkish T Beach Towel – $32 – I love this! I can wear this as a scarf, a sarong or just use it as a beach towel. Loving the colors and the stripes.

ebblog pmhb june 2014 review

Sachajuan Shiny Citrus Body Lotion – $24 – I can’t describe the scent on this. It’s not the typical “citrus scent” it’s not overly fruity or citrusy. I can’t really pinpoint what this lotion smells like.  The lotion itself is light which I enjoy. It is not as moisturizing as a thicker lotion would be, but I really like it for the scent and as a lotion to use during the day.

ebblog pmhb june 2014

You Smell Lemon Wet Wipes – $6 – I am such a smitten kitten with these. I have grown to love ALMOST all things scented lemon and these wipes are no exception. Perfect for the beach or for freshening up after a long trip. Love these!

ebblog pmhb june 2014 review

Lollies Basic Hair Ties – $8 – I am a huge fan of hair bands that don’t leave really bad “dents” in my hair. If they look stylish on my wrists that’s a bonus. These hair ties are made out of the same material most bathing suits are made of, which means they will air dry faster.

Special Extra: Native Union $15 Voucher – Native Union is a site that sells premium accessories for smart phones. I used my voucher to purchase a JUMP Lightning for my IPhone 5 and my IPad Mini.

If my math is correct that brings this month’s value at $125 and the retail cost of the box is $39.95. The box is basically worth a little more than 3 times what I would have paid for it. How can you beat that? I highly recommend Popsugar’s Monthly Must Have Box for those who love the idea behind monthly mystery boxes that are a little more universal. To sign up and to get more info click here. If you decide to sign up use the code JUNESELECT10 for an additional $10 off a 3 month subscription!

Plus Size Spring 2014 Fashion

I am plus size AND proud! Even at my smallest by traditional sizing standards I would be considered “plus size”. Whatever, it’s a title I used to hate but now I embrace! I stand at just under 5’10 so I can wear a heavier weight fairly well. Could I stand to lose weight? Yes, I would love to drop 50 pounds and I have already begun the process of eating better and becoming a bit more active. In the mean time I still want to look stylish and put together! Here are a few outfits I put together for Spring even though it still feels like winter sometimes in Chicago… Weather forecasters are saying snow next week… BOO! Oh well if I were going back to LA I’d be wearing these outfits!

Boho For The Day

Boho is big this season and this is how I would wear it so that it is age appropriate but still young and fun.

Spring 2014 Outfit 1 Shopping/Girlfriends/Casual

Normally I am not a fan of shorts and boots but I saw an outfit similar in LA and I loved it! So much so that I thought it would make a great transition outfit from Spring to Summer. Or for cool Summer days.

Casual Outfit 2

Out of all the outfits I created, this one closely resembles my daily “uniform”. I really love the addition of the mint bag. Accessories are a great way to add in trendy colors that can become dated once a season is over.

Daytime Professional Look

This outfit is inspired by friend, mentor and sister from another mister: Ana Lydia Monaco! I don’t normally wear heals so I thought some stylish flats would be nice for us tall girls who are height conscious. The outfit is classic and professional. Great for a meeting, business lunch or business dinner. The statement necklace really stands out as the star of the outfit and takes what could be a boring outfit and making it chic.

B;ack & Rose Gold

The classic black wrap dress is a go to dress for every woman. They range in price from cheap and cheerful (ala Wendy Willaims… How you doin!) to high end DVF wraps. I like to invest in great, statement pieces like a wrap dress so I own a higher end version. BUT if you are a frugalista you can take a low end wrap dress and make it look like a million dollars with great accessories in hot, trendy colors. I chose rose gold/blush which is my color of the moment.
