Beauty Picks for Fall 2014

ebblog fall 2014 picks

The fall is one of my favorite seasons. Yeah, towards the end when everything is dead it can be depressing but the transition of colors, fall flowers, the scents, flavors, the weather… I just LOVE Fall. Unlike the other three beauty seasons, fall tends to get the least amount of love because the Holiday collections usually launch within a month of fall actually settling in and the shift focuses to the Holiday deals and steals. Before the holidays take over our lives pick up some of my Fall 2014 Beauty Picks and enjoy everything that the fall has to offer. ebblo fall 2014 picks 1.) LORAC Pro 2 Palette $42.00 – I have already raved about this and the Pro 2 is the perfect collection of neutrals and jewel tones for Fall 2014 with the added extra bonus of a mini eye shadow primer as well. A budget friendly alternative would be the Wet n Wild Limited Edition Fall 2014 Melrose palettes. 2.) Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick $44.oo – I rave about this every month and the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick is the BUSINESS. I can fake trained estheticians when wearing this foundation that is how much it mimics actual skin. It is long wearing but emollient enough to not dry your skin out as the air gets drier. This foundation stick wears/covers well on its own, is easy to apply and has INSANE lasting power when paired with a primer/setting spray. 3.) Make Up Forever Mist & Fix $12.00-$29.00- This is a recent discovery of mine and I have been reaching for it more than my trusted MAC Fix+. The fall is a transitional season so depending on where you live experiencing summer like weather into November can be expected. Make Up Forever Mist& Fix will set your makeup for the humid days and it will also add some moisture to your skin on drier days. You can get a travel sized bottle for $12! 4.) Serenity + Scott Powder Foundation $26.00 – If you prefer a powder foundation this is going to be your holy grail. The Serenity + Scott Powder Foundation applies beautifully, looks like skin, doesn’t cling to dry skin and it is available in a variety of shades. This is hands down my favorite powder foundation and I typically don’t like them. 5.) Too Faced Cosmetics Melted Berry $21.00 – Berry and red shades are hot for Fall 2014. Melted Berry is hands down my favorite dark lippie of the moment. It is long wearing, doesn’t bleed, glossy, not drying on my lips and leaves a very pretty stain behind. Pro Tip for wearing a dramatic lip: If you have drier lips, exfoliate your lips first and then follow with a light layer of lip balm before you apply your makeup. By the time you’re ready to do your lips they will be hydrated and ready for color. Also, darker colors should also be applied with a lip brush. 6.) Rimmel London Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliners $3.99 – Waterproof, available in a staggering amount of colors, easy to apply, easy to find and affordable. What’s not to love about the Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal Eyeliners. Optimal colors for fall: Black, Brown, Purple, Taupe, Nude and Deep Blue. 7.) Milani Eye Primer $5.99 – This is the best eyeshadow primer on the market right now if you ask me. If you’re going to be rocking some funky Halloween makeup, on trend smoky eyes, graphic liner, etc Milani’s Eyeshadow Primer is going to be your new best friend. Pro Tip: If your foundation/concealer is creasing no matter what you do, try a little bit of eyeshadow primer underneath your foundation/concealer. What are your go to beauty products for the fall? Is there any Fall 2014 beauty trend you are just dying to try? Ashley

Milani Baked Powder Blush Delizioso Pink

Milani’s Baked Blush in Delizioso Pink is one of two new matte blushes added to the existing Baked Blush line. The other new shade is Bella Rosa. Both shades are available now and should be on the permanent Milani displays in your local Milani retailer and online. Delizioso Pink contains .12 oz of product and retails for around $7.99.

I’ve read a ton of buzz around Milani’s Baked Blushes the past year or so. This line definitely gets a ton of blogger/vlogger love and I have avoided the hype train on purpose. That was until I saw Delizioso Pink staring back at me on a recent trip to Walgreens. This is a stunning shade of medium light pink. It is definitely an eye catcher and on sale so I snatched it up.

This matte pink stunner is soft, blendable and pigmented as heck! It is completely matte shade and adds such a great, natural flush to the cheeks when applied with a light hand. Delizioso Pink is definitely a blush you use a light hand to apply otherwise you’ll be entering clown territory. If that is where you want to go Delizioso Pink can be built up with ease. It wore well over 8 hours on my face with little fading.

I have one minor complaint. I don’t care for the packaging. It’s pretty to look at but the product does rattle around and I would be afraid to drop this. I’m not sure that the packaging could handle it. At first I thought it was the brush included but it still rattled when I removed the brush. I will say that I did like that Delizioso Pink came with a mini mirror housed under the blush compact. I will say at this price point I can ignore the packaging.

If you’re prone to severe redness I would avoid Delizioso Pink as it will pick the redness up and amplifiy it otherwise this should work across most skin tones/shades. Milani’s Baked Blush in Delizioso Pink is the business: pigmented, wears well, easy to apply and under $8.00!

Milani Power Lip

Milani Power Lip Lasting & Moisturizing Gloss Stain are a new permanent product to Miani’s line of lip products. There are a total of eight shades available: Red Control, Macaroon, Strawberry Sugar, Mango Tango, Creamy Café, Pink Lemonade, Raspberry Tart and Cabaret Blend.  Each Power Lip contains .09 OZ and retails for $6.49. For the purpose of this review I chose Creamy Café and Strawberry Sugar.

From the Milani site:

Power Lip Lasting & Moisturizing Gloss Stain combines the shine of a gloss with the long wear of a stain. When first applied it goes on like a high-shine gloss, and then wears to a rich stain that lasts. Formula cushions lips and provides a non-drying, comfortable wear.  Get the power of a bold lip in just one click! Paraben-free.

Now I will start with the positives of the two shades I own from Milani’s Power Lip line. They really do last an extremely long time when wore correctly. And for anything to last on my lips for eight plus hours that says a lot. Strawberry Sugar is INSANELY pigmented and my favorite of the two. It is the perfect shade of Barbie pink. As light as the shade is, Strawberry Sugar covers my highly pigmented lips very well and wore for a good eight hours. It is a very pretty shade of pink that I love and I am willing to work with. Creamy Café is also INSANELY pigmented covering my natural lips very well. Both shades did not bleed on me and I did not need to use a lip liner with either.

Top to Bottom: Strawberry Sugar and Creamy Café

Unfortunately Milani Power Lips in Strawberry Sugar and Creamy Café did not live up to some of the claims Milani made. I was very aware of the fact that I was wearing these on my lips the second I put these on. They were very sticky to the touch and got really tight really quickly. Both shades of Power Lips were a tad uncomfortable to wear. Despite the claims of “non drying” both shades sucked all of the moisture out of my lips to the point where they literally were pealing off my lips. And this is AFTER exfoliating and moisturizing. I just want to note that this is also after two consecutive days of wear. When I wore them on the first day they did not peel off my lips.  Also, Creamy Café wears on the orange side and less on the nude side making the shade not really a fave of mine. The packaging is also a bit clumsy for proper distribution of the product. If you are not careful it is really easy to over apply the product as it tends to ooze out fairly quickly after twisting. I applied it using a lip brush and a metal mixing palette.

Wearing Strawberry Sugar

I really do not recommend these to any of my dry lipped sisters. If you don’t suffer from dry lips and you want to try Milani Power Lips I recommend a very good moisturizer/exfoliate combo before application.  Despite the problems I am in love with the color payoff I get from Strawberry Sugar and I will use it for special occasions. Creamy Café unfortunately will go in my give away pile. Have you tried the Milani Power Lips yet? If so, did you have a different experience?
