Heeeeeey! Long time no post right? I took an over extended break for personal reasons. Happy to report that I should be back and ready to lend my voice to all things beauty. It’s been an odd month weather wise here in Chicago because we haven’t really begun to transition to the fall yet. We actually still have some very summer like weather here so I haven’t had to break out my usual “transition to fall” beauty goodies, had a pumpkin spiced anything or put my crock pot stew recipes to the test yet. With our unusual weather I have found that my September 2015 Favorites really reflect what I have been using for most of the summer.

ebblog sept 2015 makeup faves

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Twice Baked – I’ve always been advocate of using “color” (meaning not black!) eyeliner. While Urban Decay’s line of pencil eyeliners boasts an impressive array of shades, it’s Twice Baked that’s been my jam! Twice Baked is the perfect shade of dark brown with just a hint of shimmer and slightly coppery micro glitter. I reeeeeeally wish this wasn’t a limited edition item that is no longer available but there are plenty of brown liners on the market at all price points.

Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow in Saddle – An oldie but goodie! Saddle is my everything: brows, liner, crease, sheer wash of smokey color on my eyes. It’s so important to have a good selection of “basic” shadows that can be used in a variety of ways. Saddle is just my makeup “bae”. I can’t live without it and it’s lasted me FOREVER.

INGLOT YSM Cream Foundation – When I came back from Mexico last month I had actually tanned quite a bit and I found myself needing a foundation that was just a little bit darker. Thankfully I had makeup ESP and brought this little powerhouse with me to Mexico. INGLOT’s YSM Cream Foundation is amazing! The coverage on it’s own is medium to full but what I have been doing with it is mixing it with other products to sheer it out some since I do not need that kind of coverage everyday. YSM wears for hours, looks like skin and just photographs beautifully! It’s also not as expensive as some of it’s higher end cousins.

MAC Cinderella Stroke of Midnight Palette – A MAC Palette full of best selling neutrals and a blackened purple? Toss in really cute packaging and how could this not be a favorite? I’m admittedly not one who buys into the MAC Limited Edition collections that are released weekly (or it seems that way!) but I actually stayed up all night to order this palette because I loved everything about the Stroke of Midnight palette. All of the shades in this palette are perfect: blend well, pigmented and long lasting. . If you missed out on the palette five of the six shades are permanent. Stroke of Midnight is the lone limited edition shade.

Smashbox Photo Filter Creamy Powder Foundation – I use Smashbox Photo Filter Creamy Powder Foundation on the days when I want to head out the door and I only have 5 minutes to get my face together OR to set my foundation/concealer. This powder when applied alone with a powder brush is enough to really just pull my face together. Over a foundation and concealer it works to set everything in place and to slightly color correct. Smashbox Photo Filter Creamy Powder Foundation also adjusted to my recently tanned skin very well. For all my dry skinned ladies out there, this powder does NOT cling to your dry patches. There are a variety of ways to use the Smashbox Photo Filter Creamy Powder Foundation (it comes with a double sided sponge, can be used wet or dry, etc) and several marketing claims I have yet to test so I may do a full review on this product in the future.

Tweetermen Slant Tweezers – Who doesn’t love a hot pink tweezer? Whenever I get asked: What is one beauty routine you do daily? My answer is ALWAYS: brows! Brows can seriously make or break your ENTIRE face. Yes, your brows are THAT serious! To keep your brows in tip top shape I recommend a great pair of tweezers and you can never go wrong with Tweezerman. Free sharpening for life? Yes please! I actually have two pairs so when I do send them away to get sharpened, I always have a spare at home with me.

ebblog sept 2015 hair favorites

Redken Color Extend Magentics Shampoo – I have a love/hate relationship with sulfate free shampoos. I love that they don’t dry my fragile tresses out but I hate that my hair never feels or looks clean after using them. That all changed this past summer when I purchased Redken’s Color Extend Magnetics Shampoo. This sulfate free, color safe shampoo just really, really works! It cleanses my hair, gives my hair body and doesn’t dry my hair out. I would use this shampoo even if I wasn’t coloring my hair that’s how good it is.

Simon & Tom Moroccan Treatment – I don’t know why but my hair cannot handle straight up oil of any kind. Believe me, I have tried them all. It’s almost like my hair needs that dose of silicone to make a difference and I am fine with that. Enter Simon & Tom Moroccan treatment which has seriously saved my ends as of late. Now, I do not use this serum all over my hair. I apply this serum on the ends of my hair before I go to sleep and when I get up in the morning my hair just looks and feel better.

Those were my favorite makeup and hair products for September 2015. What were you enjoying this month and made your September 2015 Favorites? let me know in the comments section below.

XOXO

Ashley

February 2015 Favorites

ebblog main feb faves 2015

It’s February 2015 Favorites time. I know, I know! I skipped my January favorites but for a good reason! I had several new products that were favorites that I had not reviewed yet. And I want to try and review new favorites before I list them in my monthly review. I’m weird like that I guess! I feel like I’m just repeating myself every month when I say: I can’t believe how fast this month went by. It really did! Time is just flying by now. I’m basically 11 weeks away from bringing two new lives into the world. Our families are SO excited. More on that in another post. For now on to my February 2015 Favorites!

everyday beauty blog feb 2015 faves collage

1.) bare Minerals Modern Pop The Icon Quad – My go to quad of the month. I usually just pop  Chic on my eyelid, a little brown liner on my outer V, mascara and head out the door.  I’ll use the entire palette to create a pretty daytime look or an amped up smokey look. All of the shades in The Icon are the business: creamy, blendable and long wearing. These are the perfect muted shades of popular Spring brights. You can still buy this online even if it’s already gone from stores.

2.) bare Minerals Complexion Rescue in Opal – It would take an absolutely FABULOUS product to dethrone my beloved Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation stick, and the bare Minerals Complexion Rescue has done it. Combine the skin care benefits/coverage of bb/cc/tinted moisturizers and you have one hell of a product. The coverage is perfect on its own, Complexion Rescue also works well with primers, powders and concealers to really up your complexion game.

3.) Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Brown – Nothing can beat this pencil for me and trust me I have tried a TON of brow products. Groomed brows are VERY in for Spring and Anastasia’s Brow Wiz makes it so super easy to get that perfect natural brow OR an exaggerated Instagram brow. This is a staple product for me and I never leave home without my brows done.

4.) Modern Pop Lasting Line Long Wearing Eyeliner in Classic Cream – Another new favorite for me. Nude liner is THE business and and a great one is very versatile: liner, brighten, highlighter, flesh toned base. A nude liner does it all! I’ve had very rough nights lately and popping Classic Cream on my water line wakes up tired eyes without looking fake or doll like.

5.) Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water – For $32 a pop I better love it! All kidding aside, this has been a go to product for me for the month of February. I can spritz this on my face for those days when I don’t want to wear makeup and it gives me a nice, soft dewey look. And when I use it in conjunction with my everyday beauty routine, I get long lasting, beautiful results that never look dry or cakey. I’m in complete love with the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water.

6 & & 7.) Neutrogena Triple Repair Shampoo and Leave In – I have to thank Love For Lacquer for putting these Neutrogena goodies in my hot little hands. I haven’t really tried anything from the Neutrogena Hair line but their Triple Repair line is one of the best lines I have ever tried. PERIOD. I’m a hair product snob by my own admission: I don’t like 99.9% of what is sold at the drugstore. The Triple Repair line has me dropping my beloved Redken faves. I love the scent of the line and the fact that it “repairs” my hair. Don’t get me wrong, I know what it means by “repair” but it leaves my hair soft and less frizzy. Now a word of caution: these products do leave build up (the “repair”) so you’ll need to clarify your hair every other week. The results are SO worth it though. LOVING my Neutrogena Triple Repair Shampoo and Leave In.

There you have it. My “sort of” late February Faves. What were you loving for the month of February? Let me know in the comments section below!

September 2014 Favorites

ebblog september 2014 faves main

OMG it’s October 1st already?!?!? Where did the time go? I feel like every month I say this but I honestly do mean it. Time is just flying by at hyper speed. I’m not going to lie, September 2014 was an AWESOME month for me (and Ozzy!). I have soooo much that I want to spill but I can’t at least for now. >wink<  Just want to say that I am grateful for EVERYTHING that has happened in September and feeling beyond blessed. I am excited for October too: Walking Dead starts on the 12th, scary movies, Halloween…YAY! Plus in the beauty world we’ll start seeing more of the Holiday 2014 lines in store . Enough about October lets move on to my September 2014 Faves!

ebblog september 2014 faves

1.) MAC Cosmetics Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner in Designer Purple – I have been ALL about purple eye makeup for the entire month of September. I have worn purple liner almost daily and my go to purple liner is MAC’s Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner in Designer Purple. It’s the perfect shade for me as it reads purple on my eyes and I can transform it making it more intensely purple by layering brighter purple on it or I can intensify the smokiness by layering darker shades on top of it.

2.) Make Up For Ever Artist Palette – To go with my purple obsession, the shades in this palette are perfect for my obsession. Each of the shades in the Make Up For Ever Artist Palette are designed to work together and guess what? Two of the eight shades are purple!!! Seriously, this has been the ONLY palette on my vanity since I purchased it in early September.

3.) Smashbox Photo Finish 24 Hour Shadow Primer – Our weather has not been entirely fall like in September here in Chicago so an eyeshadow primer was a must for me. I just reviewed this primer  here. Smashbox Photo Finish 24 Hour Shadow Primer has been my go to for the entire month and I have been loving it over a former fave.

4.) Anastasia Brow Wiz in Dark Brown – I love Brow Wiz for many reasons: it’s easy to use, looks natural, it’s an an all in one tool, etc. As hard as I have tried nothing comes close to my beloved Brow Wiz!

5.) T3 Single Pass Compact Iron – Another recent purchase of mine that has rapidly become a favorite of mine. This HAWT hot tool has been a daily essential to fight frizzy bed head curls or to get perfectly straight locks.

6.) Too Faced Melted Berry – Staying on beauty trends for the fall is not usually something I do but I have  been on a bit of a berry kick! I bought Too Faced Melted Berry before I started to see “Berry Lips” everywhere and now I can’t find ANY of the drugstore berry shades. I guess that’s fine because Too Faced Melted Berry is FABULOUS. It goes on easy, doesn’t feather, wears for a long time and it does not dry out my lips. Perfect for fall! So why am I looking for more? Insanity I guess… MUST HAVE ALL THE BERRY?!?!?

7.) Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick in Porcelain – If you have been following me for a while now you know I swear by this. I don’t wear any other foundation daily but the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick. I’m actually due for another one and I might have to go a shade darker to match my tanned body (I’ll keep my tan throughout the early winter months).

8.) Monster High Casta Fierce – My non beauty/cosmetic pick this month is my current favorite Monster High Doll: Casta Fierce! She is a play on Beyonce and I think she is just beyond fab despite the fact that I am overt Beyonce! I love everything about this doll: hair, dress, make up and accessories. I searched everywhere for this doll during September and I was beyond elated when I found her. Casta also has the honor of being the FIRST ever Monster High doll shown on my blog. I’ve been collecting Monster High Dolls for over two years now. I have “Collectors Syndrome”: makeup, Monster High Dolls, Bills, etc. =)

There you have it! My September 2014 Favorites. What were you loving this month?

August 2014 Faves

ebblog august 2014 faves

I cannot believe it’s September already? Where has this year gone? August was a weird month for us here in the Chi. It was downright cool at some points but Summer came roaring back the last few weeks of August and it has been pretty humid and hot, yuck! I had a few favorites for the month of August, some of them are predictable (obviously!) and some of them are brand new. But because of the heat I can honesty say that I wore very minimal makeup for more than half of the month.

ebblog august 2014 faves

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick – Honestly, if you haven’t tried this you are missing out! I’m fairly consistent when it comes to favorite products and this foundation has been my go to since I bought it waaaaaay back when it first launched. My official review is here.

batiste dry shampoo august 2104

Forgot to include this in my group shot!

Batiste Dry Shampoo Fruity & Cheeky Cherry – A recent discovery for me. I grabbed a can of this prior to leaving for Mexico in July and I fell in love with it. I just bought another can of the Fruity & Cheeky Cherry scent and I got one for brunettes. Batiste is an affordable dry shampoo option at 7.99 and it works better then most high end dry shampoos I have tried. The scent is more fruity than cherry but it smells really, really good.  This particular scent absorbs oil and freshens my hair very well. It also adds a nice, long lasting volume. You can find Batiste Dry Shampoos in a variety of scents at various stores. I buy mine at Ulta and Walgreens.

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara – Ok, so I like this better than my previous fave L’Oreal Miss Manga. Perversion is ultra black, ultra shiny goodness folks! I know, I know I kind of dogged on the mascara in my August 2014 Ipsy Bag review BUT I am a woman and therefore allowed to change my mind. I really, really LOVE this mascara. Against my fair skin it just makes my lashes “POP”. Perversion doesn’t clump my lashes, it’s extremely easy to build up and the brush/wand is the bomb. This mascara gives me just the right amount of oomph for any occasion.  I just bought a full size yesterday. =)

Serenity + Scott Powder Foundation – I discovered this brand at TMS Chicago this year. Their Powder Foundation is the bee’s knees. And when combined with my Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick I get perfect, natural looking skin. I’ve never used a powder foundation that mimics natural skin like this one. It is fabulous: wears softly on the skin, doesn’t stick to drier patches on the skin, or “sit” on top of the skin. I finally found a powder foundation that I like.

Urban Decay Naked Lipgloss in Naked – This was the ONLY product I have used on my lips for the past month (until my Berry obsession which happened at the tail end of August). Naked is the perfect shade of sheer peachy pink for me. It’s just gorgeous with an added bonus of not drying my lips out as it has some née moisturizing properties packed in it.. I also adore the packaging, it’s very luxe and a definite conversation starter.

Anastasia Brow Wiz – Try as I may I cannot find anything that replaces my beloved Anastasia Brow Wiz. I love a natural brow that has some skin peaking through. And I can get this effect with my beloved Brow Wiz. The skinny tip is perfect for creating a natural brow and I like the spoolie on the end. This is an all in one product for me but if it’s insanely muggy out I do need to set it with a powder.

As you can tell by now I went ultra natural for August 2104. Was it hot and muggy in your neck of the woods like it was here? What were your faves for the month of August 2014?

June 2014 Favorites

June 2014 Favorites everyday beauty blog

June 2014 Favorites time! I cannot believe that year is now OFFICIALLY half way over… Christmas will be here soon and I have an insane plan decor wise this year: a decorated, lit tree in EVERY room of my house (and there are ALOT!). I nabbed trees last year after Christmas during clearance blowouts (I even got a pretty 6 foot pre-lit for $2 no lie!). Yikes! I so got off the topic with the Christmas talk. Let’s not mention the “C” word until October ok? It’s SUMMER time in my city and my favorites for June changed slightly with my makeup/beauty habits for the summer. I am still digging EVERYTHING (eating some Spanish Olives right now) in my May 2014 Favorites, which you can find here. Well, I have moved on from my Too Faced Melted Peony and replaced it with TWO new faves. For June 2014 I will list my new faves instead of rehashing some of my old favorites.

ebblog June 2014 Favorites

L to R: Fusion of Color Sass Lipgloss in Pretty in Pink and bare Minerals Loud & Clear Lip Sheer in Magenta Vibe

Toni & Guy Curling Iron – I LOVE beachy waves in the summer and my Toni & Guy curling iron helps me achieve my perfect wave. Now I don’t use the clip, I actually wrap my hair around the barrel and it works better than my $250 Amika curling system (>sobs<). I highly recommend grabbing one at your local Target.

Fusion of Color Cosmetics Sass Lipgloss in Pretty in Pink – Holy grail gloss reviewed here and I wear it ALL the time. Pretty in Pink is my perfect shade of creamy peachy-pink that goes with just about everything. It’s hydrating and doesn’t budge which I love. Pretty in Pink is also not sticky, it has a very nice slip and decent wear time. This is my current and only lipgloss in my purse. bare

Minerals Loud & Clear Lip Sheer in Magenta Vibe – Even though I just reviewed this here, I’ve had it for quite a while now and this has been my go to lippie when I am craving that subtle pop of color. Magenta Vibe provides great moisture for my parched lips and it’s easy to apply on the go. I do have to be careful with this in the summer sun as it will melt, but as for now this is my go to shade for a sublte summer pop. If I am not wearing Fusion of Color Pretty in Pink I am wearing this.

My preciouses….. =)

Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAB Tote – Ugh, I so did NOT need to get the “desginer” handbag bug. Now I am a long waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off from from LVs and Balenciagas but Rebcca Minkof can be quite pricey in its own right. I got this bag directly from Rebecca Minkoff’s website over Memorial Day weekend. It was already on sale plus I had a coupon for 20% off so I paid around $74 plus shipping for this bag. And I want another… A larger one! But this bag is just beyond cute, colorful and PERFECT for the summer. Curse you Rebecca Minkoff for making HOT handbags!

Apple IPad Mini Retina Display – I didn’t think I would like the mini and guess what? I like it better than my boyfriend’s full size IPad. I have been attached to my IPad Mini, it might as well be sewn to my hand. I don’t think I would be able to live without it. I even blinged it out AND bought matching cases for my Iphone and IPad Mini. I’m crazy, I know.

What were your faves for June 2014? Do you have big plans for the Fourth of July? Have a great and safe weekend!
