It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Color Correcting Full Coverage Cream (C’mon it Cosmetics with the long name!) contains .406 fl. oz/1.08 f. oz. and retails for $15/$38.  This CC cream is available in five shades ranging from “Fair” to “Rich”. You can find It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC at online retailers an it Cosmetics retailers nationwide. This CC cream receives a TON of hype online so of course I wanted to give this perennial beauty fave a whirl to see if the accolades were earned or not.

I have to say that the  it Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream is a hit AND a miss in my book. I’ll start with the hits! This CC cream goes on beautifully, wears flawlessly on its own, is lightweight, doesn’t settle into pores and mimics the look of skin. It does a FABULOUS job at blurring pores/fine lines and leaves a beautiful dewy finish. The coverage on its own is light to light medium and not really buildable.  It wears for a good four to six hours on my skin alone but over primer and set with powder its the beast of the CC cream world: all day wear! I’ll have some minor splotchiness on the oiler parts of my skin at hour eight but otherwise  it Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream wears beautifully! This is a great alternative to wearing liquid foundation if your looking for light to medium coverage and SPF. Dewy skin is hot for Spring 2015 and the  it Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream is a great way to get the same results in one product versus using several different products.

it Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream in Light

It’s not all rainbows and unicorns with the  it Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream. My major gripe is not with the product itself but the ridiculous marketing claims. The packaging and the it Cosmetics website make some really amazing claims that their product just cannot possibly live up to.  First, the it Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream is touted to be your All In One product. I’ve even heard their rep on QVC claim: It’s all you’ll ever need. Que sideye… Really girl? After ten days of daily use I did not see softer, smoother skin, a reduction in wrinkles or smaller pores like their packaging claims. Last I checked there was no permanent way to minimize your pores.

Wearing it Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream in Light and spot concealer for my under eye area and chin. Taken with my IPhone  6.

it Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream is supposed to cover “everything”. I still found myself using concealer under my eyes and on a laser surgery scar (which is barely noticeable on its own) because I wasn’t getting the coverage that I needed. Multiple layers of this CC cream just does not cut it.  It Cosmetics also claims you’ll see a 179% increase in hydration IMMEDIATELY. I STILL had dry patchy skin in certain areas even when I didn’t set  it Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream with powder. I dislike when a good product is slapped with a ton of obviously false “clinically proven results’ and unfortunately the  it Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream suffers from not meeting up to it’s own marketing hype.

Is it fabulousness in a tube? Yes, but is it the end all be all that it Cosmetics claims? Nope! I say ignore the insane claims on the packaging. You will absolutely need to use the it Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream with your other daily skin products. This is a PHENOMENAL product when used in conjunction with your daily lotions, potions and serums. Have you tried the it Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream? Let me now what you thought about it in the comments section below.

All About Argan Oil

Beauty oils seem to be getting more and more popular in the world of beauty and showing no signs of a slow down. Just about every hair care/skin care line has some beauty oil in some form and they all claim to do just about the same thing. What separates the legit beauty oils from the rest of the pack? The ingredient list on the bottle. Most of these beauty oils have very little actual “miracle oil” in them. I can rant endlessly about that but let us focus on the beauty oil that sparked this trend: Argan oil.

ebblog argan oil 1

It is certainly one of the hottest beauty oils out now.  Argan oil is being put in just about everything that is supposed to be good for our face, body and hair. It’s truly a super oil with many uses. But how many of us know where this miracle oil comes from or how it is harvested? Who’s ready for a beauty lesson on Argan oil?

ebblog argan oil

Let us start with the basics! What IS Argan oil? Argan Oil is derived from the edible part (the seeds housed in the “nut”) of the Argan fruit of the Argan tree. This tree is found mostly in Southwestern Morocco and harvested by several women’s co-ops. Argan oil is extracted by roasting the seeds and pressing them using various methods. It has both dietary AND cosmetic uses BUT since this is a beauty blog we’ll focus on just some of the many cosmetic uses of Argan oil and let the foodies hash out the dietary aspect of what has been dubbed as “liquid gold”.

As a general purpose moisturizer
As an additive to your hair conditioner
An oil treatment for your hair
To tame frizzies and static prone hair
On the ends of your hair to help strengthen them and and prevent split ends.
In hair color to help protect your hair from color damage
On your nails as cuticle oil
Mixed with lemon juice to help strengthen nails
To use on minor skin irritations and blemishes
A pre-foundation moisturizer
An additive to facial masks
Argan Oil combats those unslightly stretchmarks and scarsebblog argan oil

When shopping for Argan oil what should you be looking for? Unless it is an oil blend, 100% Argan oil with no fillers. Some companies will toss in phrases like “organic” “virgin” or “cold pressed” but really just make sure it 100% Argan oil. The most obvious brand when it comes to Argan oil for beauty related purposes is Josie Maran, which can be found at Sephora. You can also find pure Argan oil at various health food shops, vitamin/nutrition shops, beauty supply chains, drug stores, online, etc. You just need to make sure that it’s from a trusted, legit source. Argan oil is one of the rarest oils in the world and prices will reflect this. Just remember a little of this product goes a very, very long way.

Are you a fan of Argan oil? What are your favorite beauty oils?

LUSH Turkish Delight

lush turkish delight ebblog

LUSH Turkish Delight is part of their Shower Smoothie line. It is one of four different shower smoothies. Turkish Delight contains 7 OZ of product and retails for $34.95. According to the LUSH USA site Turkish Delight promises a decadent shower that will leave your skin soft, moisturized and fragrant.

Turkish Delight is one of LUSH’s top selling products touted to give one a “real” Turkish bath experience. It is loaded with essential oils and pure botanical essences. Turkish Delight is a vegan product according to the packaging. It is one of LUSH’s shower smoothies. Meaning Turkish Delight will both cleanse and moisturize your skin while you’re in the shower. Turkish Delight has a divine scent to it. It is not overly rosy but a very nice combo of fresh, clean soap smell and roses. The fragrance is VERY nice. I enjoyed that Turkish Delight lingered throughout the day. Unfortunately not everything is coming up roses with this product.

lush ebblog review

The product itself is an odd hybrid: soap meets body butter meets shower wash. The “intended” use for Turkish Delight is to take your fingers, a large amount of product and then apply it directly to your skin, let it sit for a minute and then rinse off. The big problem with this method is that a lot of the product will fall off and be wasted in the shower. I also tried it pre-shower and while I wasted less product to falling off and running water, I had to use more of it to cover my body. I was also told over and over by the LUSH Sales Associate that I would not need to apply any body lotion after showering with Turkish Delight. My legs and arms were SO itchy after using this product that I had to apply lotion repeatedly just to calm them down. While the rest of my body liked the Turkish Delight experience, my legs and arms were not a fan.

My next gripe is the price of Turkish Delight at $34.95 for 7 OZ of product. I could possibly see that price if this was an independent luxury brand on Etsy that was not a international chain but LUSH is anything but small or independent no matter how hard they try to market themselves that way. On the site you can order Turkish Delight and have it set up for delivery every 3 months. Given that it took two large scoops for me to do my entire body wet and four large scoops to do my body dry, I would be shocked if this lasts a month given I do shower daily. If I had to share this with my boyfriend, than I could see getting, maybe two weeks out of it. I don’t mind paying for luxury when the value is there but in the case of Turkish Delight the value is not there.

While I LOVE the scent of Turkish Delight, I didn’t enjoy any other aspect of the product. I literally could have used any brand of bar soap and got the same results.  There could be an ingredient(s) in Turkish Delight that I am allergic to making this product definitely not for me. At over $38 once I add in tax, LUSH Turkish Delight is an expensive beauty fail that I hope I can return. Have you tried Turkish Delight? Was your experience different than mine? Ipsy May 2014 Bag

ipsy may 2014 ebblog

Hola! My Ipsy May 2014 Bag literally just got here and I ALREADY have an opinion on it. This month’s theme is Fresh Picks, I have heard some Internet rumbling about the contents of the bag so I was a little put off and worried about my bag. I don’t check my monthly Glam Room so my Ipsy Bag contents can be somewhat of a surprise. And yes, I do have an insane amount of self control!

The actual bag this month is really pretty. I am getting an ECO Tools vibe from it. Here is what came in my Ipsy May 2014 Bag:

Derma E Microdermabrasion Scrub – So NOT excited about this product. I mean I’ll use it but I JUST got a similar product last month. Hello Ipsy? Are you trying to tell me something? It has a very citrusy scent that like but I’m not too sure how my skin will react to this as I am quite sensitive to citrus essence and oils.

Hang Ten Classic Sport SPF 50 – Who doesn’t need sunscreen? Especially a one that is water resitant. It is a sealed sample and I don’t want to open it yet because I plan to take it with me to Mexico this summer. If I can’t use it I am sure someone in my family will. SPF 50 is a godsend for me and my super fair skin. I could have probably used 250 of this little tubes just for the summer… =)

eva-nyc Therapy Session Hair Mask – I really wanted to try this product out. It’s a a hair mask with Argan oil and Keravis protein. I used this last night and I L-O-V-E it! My hair is beyond soft and hydrated.I shower daily but I only wash my hair 2 maybe 3 times a week and I can definitely see using this when I wash my hair. Especially with all of the heat I use on my hair.  This size of the eva-nyc Therapy Session Hair Mask retails for $12.00. And it smells beyond good. This product made the bag for me.

Pacifica Mineral Shadows Duo #2 – Yes! I got the purple/white gold duo! I saw a friend who got this and I was beyond jealous. I was so happy to get the one I wanted. I have used Pacifica’s cosmetics line from Target before so I like the shadows. They perform as well as their other counterparts do. A great little duo for travel too.

Olive Lips – A lip balm with formulated with olive oil and Rosemary. Who doesn’t love a lip balm? Another full size product in my bag. I read complaints about the scent but to me it really doesn’t have one. There is a faint herbal scent that I enjoy. I also have yet to try this product because I have about 50 EOS balms to get through. This little guy might also go in my travel bag for vacay this summer.

There you have it! I really, REALLY enjoyed my Ipsy May 2014  bag. I am OK with not receiving all color cosmetics all the time from Ipsy as long as it’s products that I have opted to receive on my Ipsy Match Quiz. I have said this before, Ipsy is like playing a monthly beauty poker. You gamble with $10 and sometimes you win, other times you lose, or just break even. This month I won. I got 5 useful items and found a conditioner I love. Thanks Ipsy! Do you get Ipsy? What was in your bag?

Influencster Viva Vox Box

I was beyond excited when I learned I was selected for Influenster’s Viva Vox Box! I purposefully do not except much in terms of “freebies” but I L-O-V-E to receive random surprise boxes like this one. It’s like Christmas/my birthday when ever I get a surprise box. The Viva Vox Box was loaded with some great goodies and there was really only one product I wouldn’t use.

Right off the bat I was I was most excited about the Vaseline Spray&Go Moisturizer in Cocoa Radiant. This is my favorite formula in the Spray&Go line. If you’re a lazy lotion person like I am, then this is THE product for you. Those of you who have followed me for a while know that I have raved about this product before. Cocoa Radiant is time efficient and it works even on my dragon scale legs.

I also received a few color cosmetic items. I got two Pure Ice Nail Polishes in It’s Complicated and After Hours. It’s Complicated is a clear base loaded with multicolored glitter in what looks like three different sizes. I was able to get pretty good glitter payoff with some patience and two coats. It dried super fast which I love. After Hours is a stunning corally red pink cream nail polish. It went opaque in just two coats and dried really fast. I was able to dig around in my garden and do household chores with no chipping. I was chip free until day 3. Those results are without a top coat/base coat. Both polishes were extremely easy to remove. I’m not much of a nail polish girl BUT I do always wear polish on my toes and these two will make wonderful additions to my collection.

The other cosmetic item I received is from NYC. It’s their City Proof Twistable Intense Lip Color in South Ferry Berry. This lippie is an intensely pigmented dark berry red that almost leans a little orange on my skin. It has a very intense Cherry Chapstick scent. It is a waxier, chubby lip pencil that will wear for up to 4 hours on me depending on what I’m doing. This shade will leave behind a slight stain that fades around the 6th hour.  South Ferry Berry has an almost glossy/satin finish. It is very moisturizing on my lips and due to the waxiness it does not bleed or move around.  I like that South Ferry Berry imparted a wearable lip color that was incredibly comfortable to wear and took me OUT of my comfort zone.

NYC lippie swatch #vivavoxbox

There are two products I haven’t tried yet: Cetaphil Cleansing Cloths and Montagne Jennesse Creamy Coconut Mask. I have a huge pack of MAC makeup Remover Wipes to get through an I am also testing out the Glam Glow mask so I haven’t had a chance to break out these goodies yet. I’ll post separate reviews when I finally do get to these items.

Finally included in our Influenster Viva Vox Box was Shell Fuel Rewards Card. This is the item I honestly won’t ever use. Our car and gas is fully paid for by my boyfriend’s company and we already have a preferred gas provider. I don’t dry so we are a one car household. Add in the fact that I can’t remember the last time I saw a Shell Station and this item will more than likely be gifted to family or a friend.

The Influenster Vox Box program is fun and free to join. Being extremely active on the Influenster site and participating in their initiatives can help bump you up in their Vox Box standings but in my experience it does seem completely based on random facctors that remain a mystery to me. Overall I enjoyed the Viva Vox Box. Did you receive one? Was your box similar to mine?
