Ipsy January 2015 Glam Bag

January 2015 glam bag main

Not the actual contents of my January 2015 Glam Bag but I wouldn’t complain if it was!

Ipsy January 2015 Glam Bag is here!!! Once again my January 2015 Glam Bag arrived super early giving me time to test the goodies I received. I do have to say that my bag arrived before my tracking information did AGAIN. I can’tcomplain about that though! The January 2015 Glam Bag is really, really cute! It’s giving me a very 60’s/70’s vibe with the color combo and texture. The zipper is a shade of muted peach while one side of the bag white and the other side is a pretty shade of cobalt blue. Ipsy does makeup bags VERY well but the actual contents of my January 2015 Glam Bag are what everyone is interested in.

Reveal in 3…2…1!

ebblog jan2015 glambag reveal

Jouer Essential Lip Enhancer – I have heard of Joeur before but I have yet to try anything from their line so I was excited about getting this product: Jouer’s Lip Enhancer. While it comes in a variety of shades the one I got is a light pink tint but it goes on clear. Lip Enhancer is touted to give me full, plumper lips and keep them hydrated as well. I’m wearing this as I write my review and I am finding it comfortable to wear, has no taste and it does have a slightly floral smell to it. I will definitely be using Jouer’s Essential Lip Enhancer and if I love it enough I’ll be purchasing it.

Elizabeth Mott All Over Shadow Brush – I’m a makeup brush JUNKIE and this lovely brush from Elizabeth Mott is hot pink! The bristles are super soft, it’s definitely a multi-tasker and I can see myself using this brush regularly. I received an eyeshadow from this brand last year and so far I think I would actually try more from Elizabeth Mott’ s full line.

bellapierre Cosmetics Shimmer Powder Whesek – Admittedly I am not overly fond of mineral cosmetics, especially loose shadows BUT my positive experience with Fusion of Color Cosmetics has made me a bit more open about the mineral cosmetics world. Whesek is such an odd shade of blackened grey with a weird silvery white shimmer to it. This is the oddest eyeshadow I have ever used. It starts off a shimmery silver and then with blending you blend away the silvery white part and are left with a blackened, ashy grey mess that looks like cigarette ashes with micro glitter. Whesek also smells like copper when blended. This is a total throw away for me.

Pacifica Natural Mineral Coconut Eyeshadow in Ethereal – A shimmery, light pinky beige that is very similar to my skin tone. I have a ton of shades like this and Ethereal is just OK in my opinion. I own better. I wish Ipsy would get over it’s love affair with Pacifica. They are becoming the new Be A Bombshell: mediocre cosmetics in numerous bags!

R to L: Ethereal, Whesek and Whesek blended. Whisk reminds me of cigarette ashes.

La Fresh Group eco-beauty good day-day moisturizer – I really dig the packaging on this sample size: it’s resealable! I haven’t used it yet but I do like receiving decent sized samples for travel. La Fresh products I’ve received in the past I’ve enjoyed, so this sample was a big plus for me!

The only major miss for me from the Ipsy January 2015 Glam Bag was the bellapierre cigarette ash eyeshadow. Otherwise the other four products I received were all great to decent. This month I got three full sized items and two deluxe sample sized products. Not bad for $10. Ipsy gets ANOTHER monthly reprieve from me. Do you get Ipsy? What was in your bag this month?

Ipsy June 2014 Glam Bag

ipsy june 2014 ebblog review

Rebecca Minkoff?!?!?! Yes please!

My June 2014 Ipsy Glam bag arrived a little later than usual this month due to a shipping error. I have to say I am a little peeved about it. I have been subbed to Ipsy for just about a year now and this is the FOURTH time I have had a shipping error on my bag. I do take into consideration that the service is $10 which includes shipping so there is bound to be hiccups BUT I am paying for this service too, so I am entitled to rant a little about it.

This month I am most excited about the actual bag. It is designed by Rebecca Minkoff and I have to say I have become somewhat of a Rebecca Minkoff handbag junkie as of late. The Glam Bag this month is hands down my fave of the 13 I have. Love the design and the fact that it has a Rebecca Minkoff tag. Now on to the contents.

ipsy june 2014

Be A Bombshell Lash Out Mascara in Black – Dear Ipsy PLEASE no more Be A Bombshell products! This mascara is hands down the WORST product I have ever tested. It has a rancid vinegar smell and it does nothing. I’m serious. The Be A Bombshell Lash Out mascara might as well be an invisible product.

Realtree For Her – From worst to best! I was kind of bummed when I found out that this was in my bag.  However, this is such a GREAT fragrance. I loved the floral, fruity notes and the sweetness is cut with amber and mahogany. It’s not your typical feminine fragrance. I went ahead and ordered a full size. The sample size of Realtree For Her is in the deluxe size and it comes in a spray bottle. A huge plus when it comes to fragrance samples. I plan on taking this little bad boy on vacay with me.

NYX Butter Glloss in Creme Brulee – Another fave this month. Believe it or not I am not a huge NYX fan and I haven’t tried any of their much hyped Butter Glosses. I am not head over heals in love with Creme Brulee. This peachy nude lipgloss is great for layering or wearing on its own. Creme Brulee is almost opaque on my pigmented lips, it wears on it’s own for about 3 hours depending on what I am doing, it has a sugary vanilla scent and I found it just a tad bit sticky.  For me it is not drying nor moiturizing, just “there”.

OFRA Eyebrow Universal – I have been wanting to try products from OFRA for a while now. This eyebrow pencil is not truly universal as it would be way too dark for blondes and too brown for red heads. It is a waxy pencil in a Taupe shade that can be made lighter or darker based on the amount of pressure applied. I actually liked that the OFRA Brow Universal is firm enough to pencil in light, individual hairs, leaving a natural looking brow. OFRA Brow Universal suffers from a HUGE problem though… It never sets. If you sweat or wipe your brow then there’s a good chance that this product will be gone. I suggest setting it with a powder product. The OFRA Universal Brow pencil is just ok. There are much better options out there when it comes to wear time.

L to R: Creme Brulee and OFRA Universal Eyebrow Pencil

Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray –  I haven’t tried this yet because these types of sprays usually contain salt (this one does!) and salts can be very drying on my hair. I also generally don’t like the frizzy, dry beachy waves. I prefer sleek, smooth waves! I will more than likely be giving this away because the Marc Anthony  Dream Waves Beach Spray smells awesome but it is just not for me.

Popsugar June 2014 Must Haves Box

POPSUGAR provided me with a complimentary POPSUGAR Must Have box. The opinions I have shared about the box are my own and POPSUGAR did not tell me what to say or how to say it.

ebblog surprise box popsugar must haves june 2014

If you’re not familiar with Popsugar’s Monthly Must Haves Box, it is a box loaded with full sized and premium products. Now you’re not only going to get beauty items but lifestyle, food and home items. It’s really a well rounded box with a great selection of items from a variety of different types of products. It retails for $39.95 a month but the contents of the box are often double to triple the value.

I was SO beyond excited when I was notified I’d be receiving the Popsugar Must Haves Box for June 2014. I’m leaving for a two week trip to Mexico in a month. We are planning on going to our town and also spending a few days in Puerto Vallarta. I am beyond excited. When I found out that the theme behind the Popsugar June 2014 Must Haves Box is Summer.  I was eagerly anticipating some great items to take with me on vacation. And this box did NOT disappoint!

Emily Griffin’s The One & Only – $28 – This is coming with me on the plane, along with several months worth of Allure and Instyle. I cannot wait to get into this book. It’s been years since I read an entire novel.

ebblog pmhb june 2014

One Potato Two Potato Hawaiian BBQ Flavored Kettle Chips – $2 – These are gone BTW. I thought they were so beyond yummy. These were not your typical bbq chips. They were a little on the spicy side. I loved them!

More than just a towel!

Turkish T Beach Towel – $32 – I love this! I can wear this as a scarf, a sarong or just use it as a beach towel. Loving the colors and the stripes.

ebblog pmhb june 2014 review

Sachajuan Shiny Citrus Body Lotion – $24 – I can’t describe the scent on this. It’s not the typical “citrus scent” it’s not overly fruity or citrusy. I can’t really pinpoint what this lotion smells like.  The lotion itself is light which I enjoy. It is not as moisturizing as a thicker lotion would be, but I really like it for the scent and as a lotion to use during the day.

ebblog pmhb june 2014

You Smell Lemon Wet Wipes – $6 – I am such a smitten kitten with these. I have grown to love ALMOST all things scented lemon and these wipes are no exception. Perfect for the beach or for freshening up after a long trip. Love these!

Lollies Basic Hair Ties – $8 – I am a huge fan of hair bands that don’t leave really bad “dents” in my hair. If they look stylish on my wrists that’s a bonus. These hair ties are made out of the same material most bathing suits are made of, which means they will air dry faster.

Special Extra: Native Union $15 Voucher – Native Union is a site that sells premium accessories for smart phones. I used my voucher to purchase a JUMP Lightning for my IPhone 5 and my IPad Mini.

If my math is correct that brings this month’s value at $125 and the retail cost of the box is $39.95. The box is basically worth a little more than 3 times what I would have paid for it. How can you beat that? I highly recommend Popsugar’s Monthly Must Have Box for those who love the idea behind monthly mystery boxes that are a little more universal. Influencster Viva Vox Box

I was beyond excited when I learned I was selected for Influenster’s Viva Vox Box! I purposefully do not except much in terms of “freebies” but I L-O-V-E to receive random surprise boxes like this one. It’s like Christmas/my birthday when ever I get a surprise box. The Viva Vox Box was loaded with some great goodies and there was really only one product I wouldn’t use.

Right off the bat I was I was most excited about the Vaseline Spray&Go Moisturizer in Cocoa Radiant. This is my favorite formula in the Spray&Go line. If you’re a lazy lotion person like I am, then this is THE product for you. Those of you who have followed me for a while know that I have raved about this product before. Cocoa Radiant is time efficient and it works even on my dragon scale legs.

I also received a few color cosmetic items. I got two Pure Ice Nail Polishes in It’s Complicated and After Hours. It’s Complicated is a clear base loaded with multicolored glitter in what looks like three different sizes. I was able to get pretty good glitter payoff with some patience and two coats. It dried super fast which I love. After Hours is a stunning corally red pink cream nail polish. It went opaque in just two coats and dried really fast. I was able to dig around in my garden and do household chores with no chipping. I was chip free until day 3. Those results are without a top coat/base coat. Both polishes were extremely easy to remove. I’m not much of a nail polish girl BUT I do always wear polish on my toes and these two will make wonderful additions to my collection.

The other cosmetic item I received is from NYC. It’s their City Proof Twistable Intense Lip Color in South Ferry Berry. This lippie is an intensely pigmented dark berry red that almost leans a little orange on my skin. It has a very intense Cherry Chapstick scent. It is a waxier, chubby lip pencil that will wear for up to 4 hours on me depending on what I’m doing. This shade will leave behind a slight stain that fades around the 6th hour.  South Ferry Berry has an almost glossy/satin finish. It is very moisturizing on my lips and due to the waxiness it does not bleed or move around.  I like that South Ferry Berry imparted a wearable lip color that was incredibly comfortable to wear and took me OUT of my comfort zone.

There are two products I haven’t tried yet: Cetaphil Cleansing Cloths and Montagne Jennesse Creamy Coconut Mask. I have a huge pack of MAC makeup Remover Wipes to get through an I am also testing out the Glam Glow mask so I haven’t had a chance to break out these goodies yet. I’ll post separate reviews when I finally do get to these items.

Finally included in our Influenster Viva Vox Box was Shell Fuel Rewards Card. This is the item I honestly won’t ever use. Our car and gas is fully paid for by my boyfriend’s company and we already have a preferred gas provider. I don’t dry so we are a one car household. Add in the fact that I can’t remember the last time I saw a Shell Station and this item will more than likely be gifted to family or a friend.

The Influenster Vox Box program is fun and free to join. Being extremely active on the Influenster site and participating in their initiatives can help bump you up in their Vox Box standings but in my experience it does seem completely based on random facctors that remain a mystery to me. Overall I enjoyed the Viva Vox Box. Did you receive one? Was your box similar to mine?
